A Mother’s Love

Composed 5/13/13
Description: A poem (a few days late) for Mothers Day.

Laundry feels softer
When mom washes your clothes
Food tastes better
When it’s cooked on momma’s stove
You’ll have a larger scar
If she’s not there when you are hurt
You’ll never look as nice
If she’s not there to smooth your shirt

But it’s only when you’re gone
That you realize her advice
Is not just OCD
But the love that fills your life
Bottles from the store and
Family recipes
Are nothing compared to
The love my mother brings
