Debris

Composed 7/4/15
Description: Inspired by fireworks and the holiday.

We are light
We rise into the sky
And ride on trails of smoke
Bursting in dazzling hues
We dance
Spin and curl and fall
Down
Down
Into peaceful, happy sleep

By and by

We are burdened
Rooted to the ground
Tossing, turning as forced spectators
While the world around us burns
We wish to watch, to revel
But reality redirects joyous reminisce
We say our dear God Bless
Our love poisoned by danger
We sense those things amiss

The Last Day

Composed 5/21/15
Description: Written before church that Sunday. Just some musing about endings and beginnings. A theme so prevalent at this time in my life.

(Also, haven’t posted much lately; sorry about that. I will definitely try to get back in the swing of things!)

It’s the tipping point
Where all is at peace
But yearns to fall apart
When it is the last day
You spend smiling, loving
But your mind itches
This time will never come again
Let the sun hit you
And run and try to breathe
Because the last day is holy
And shorter than it seems
Your eyes may glisten with the pain
But joy is too seldom and sweet
So enjoy
Lest you live in constant vain
