Sunshine Dream

Composed 4/18/16
Description: For Day 17 of NaPoWriMo. Obviously… I’m not yet used to warm weather.

I woke up today to a blinding dream
Even the grass sings sunshine songs
The air is light and pale and fresh
As the outside breathes into the room
My skin feels new as if
Pleasure has just caressed my cheeks
People chatter and birds softly sing
A drowsy, pure reality
I’m numb with the glee, indeed
This must be a dream

Lunch Break

Composed 4/14/16
Description: For Day 13 of NaPoWriMo. A snapshot from today.

I walk out
And there is sun!
Blanketing the streets in a rare warmth
Crowds mill in smiles and sunglasses
Flirting with their shorts and sandals

I can barely see them
They radiate
But the aura is infectious
Even music plays
Relaxing and summery
From an open car door

You can’t help it
You walk down the street and feel
Alive
With the magic of a thousand summers gone by

Rainy Days

Composed 4/14/14
Description: (Day 14 of NaPoWriMo) Inspired by WDBWP’s prompt, Reverse Acrostic, in which we were encouraged to (you guessed it) write an acrostic poem (but with the acronym consisting of the ending letters). However, we had a set list of words to choose from. As today was a drizzly, cool day, my choice was obvious.

I tend to thrive on the coolest of days
When bright sunbeams vanish with an icy adieu
And liquid mountain air drips down
Steaming like kisses on my heated cheeks
Bundling, shivering gives me a high
In which I conquer ennui
And for days I splash without abandon
Yet my body yearns for something else
