Description: I have thrown about many ideas for what I want to strive for this year to better improve myself. Some of these ideas are not very original but, I feel, necessary (i.e. eat better, exercise more, lose some pudge), while other goals are things to satisfy my more creative, artistic needs (i.e. experiment with bullet journaling). While some of these things may come true, I am perhaps the queen of halfhearted goals. However, a rare exception to that rule is this blog. While hiatuses are apparent, I have had this blog and kept it updated to some degree for over two years now. Thus, it seems appropriate to try and build on success, take another baby step, if you will. Do you think I can consistently post a poem a week for the whole year?

Inspired by life and today’s Daily Prompt: Year.

Resolutely
Each mind
Swiftly fills with varied aspirations that
Overflow and overwhelm as we
Long to start afresh and better ourselves with
Varied results depending upon
Endurance and earnestness

Regarding Changes

Composed 12/31/15
Description: Obligatory New Years post. Though, not necessarily a traditional one.

We see the end of each calendar year
As a magical flip of the page
One that wipes off our lives as easily
As the numbers wiped off of our dry erase boards

But our year, our months
The way we mark the days
It’s just a human tradition

The first of our year
A constructed year
Is not divine
It just marks the time
But any time
Is a time when change
Is possible
If you wish

Why wait?
If you desire to be different
Why stumble and slumber through the year
Before being happy or proud?
Five minutes ago
You were a different person
Five minutes from now
You could be different

You not the days
Determine your steps
